A Short Film

A clip of A Short Film recorded during installation. The screen is made of articles of clothing, including men's work shirts, women's nightgowns, and bed sheets. The screen provides a ghost like composite image of The Big Horn Mountain range and Casper Mountain switchback. These were the mountains I grew up in. One of my earliest memories is the view of Casper Mountain from our kitchen window. I was trying to piece together the childhood landmarks of my home and early life.

Losing one’s parents is disorienting. I thought if I could define it somehow that it might cease to be so uncomfortable. That was wrong. Grief breaks you. The many competing forces takes what you will never experience again. Your childhood home. Your dad’s voice. Your mom’s unmendable sadness.

Memory is an unpredictable and encompassing current.

wave after wave, after wave.

Crash into me.

Let me be the place where your tired body comes to rest.
